My dog actually stays still through a whole grooming session now that I can crank out neat little bows fast. These bands hold tight without snapping even when I tie them double, and 500 of them means I'm not hoarding the last few like I used to.
I've been through half the box already doing bows for my poodle's grooming sessions, and not a single band has snapped on me yet. The grip is solid enough that they stay put even when she shakes her head mid-trim, which saves me from redoing everything.
The 5/16" size is just right for holding a bow snugly on a matted coat without slipping, and I've used maybe thirty so far without a single snap. Halfway through the pack for my grooming side gig and these still feel as tight as the first one I pulled out.
